Synopsis: Incarcerated individuals at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins and the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington have been working to make personal protective masks for all WDOC staff and inmates. This work is being done through the Department’s Correctional Industries Program. More information on this effort will be provided next week after protocols are in place.

Synopsis: Inmates shifted from making prison jumpsuits to dual-layered masks made of 100 percent cotton twill and elastic. The California Prison Industry Authority says it is currently producing 10,000 per day. It collaborated with Maryland Correctional Enterprises and Allina Health to develop a suitable mask.

Synopsis: “On top of the personal protective gear already on-hand within our Divisions, we wanted to make sure everyone has a couple washable, reusable cloth masks.  We don’t have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our facilities and we are making every effort to keep it that way,” says Nolan Espinda, Department of Public Safety Director.  “We also wanted to provide our PSD staff with this extra layer of protection that they can use while working out in the community and as they go about their daily lives.”
