CORRECTIONAL INDUSTRIES LEADERSHIP TRAINING

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) has partnered with NCIA to develop and launch a Correctional Industries Leadership Training Program, a comprehensive program to train Correctional Industry Directors and CI staff on their way to leadership in CI.

NCIA has been working closely with NIC since 2007, when our members participated in the CI Leadership Training DACUM to develop national professional development standards for Correctional Industries Leaders. In 2009, NCIA gathered a diverse group of seven CI Directors to participate in the Validation Panel that validated the original DACUM findings. NCIA launched the pilot Correctional Industries Leadership Training at the National Training Conference in Sacramento, CA in April 2012. Held the Friday and Saturday before the official conference kick-off, the training was sold out, with more than 30 directors and future leaders in attendance.

The program consists of two training webinars, four e-learning modules prior to the class, and a six-module classroom training centered on a case study.
