Incarcerated Individuals with Nevada's local Prison Industries program actually made all the replicas of the historic sandstone carriage stones by hand from rocks picked out at the old Nevada State Prison quarry. "Visit Carson City approached us, and we met with the historical people down here, collaborated on how we're going to do these rocks. The medallions that are downtown, those were picked up, we polished those, we fabricated plaques to identify the historical markings, and offenders carved those rocks by hand," said Bill Quenga, Deputy Director with the Prison Industries program. Now their work is on display at nearly 50 historic sites in the capital city!
